Abstract

This studyexaminedthepositedlinkbetweennetworkedgovernance(theactivitiesof NGOs andthemedia)andtheanti-briberydisclosuresoftwoglobaltelecommunication companies. Basedonajointconsiderationoflegitimacytheory,mediaagendasettingtheory and responsiveregulation,thefindingsshowthatanti-briberydisclosuresarepositively associated withtheactivitiesofthemediaandNGOinitiatives.Thefindingsalsoshow that companiesmakeanti-briberydisclosurestomaintainsymboliclegitimacybutareless prominent ineffectingasubstantivechangeintheiraccountabilitypractices.
