Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the fishing industry in: (1) Central Java's economic structure, (2) linkages with other sectors, and (3) the impact of the output multiplier and gross added value on the economy of Central Java. The data used is the domestic transaction input output table based on the classification of producer prices for 52 sectors in Central Java Province in 2016. Further data analysis was carried out using economic mathematics and input output models assisted with the excel program. The results of the analysis show: (1) the contribution of the fisheries sector to the economic structure of Central Java is still low, both in terms of demand, consumption, investment, export import, and output (2) based on the linkage value of the fisheries sector, backward linkages are greater than forwards, so that the fisheries sector has more opportunities to provide input for other sectors, and (3) in terms of the output multiplier value and gross added value, the fisheries sector is still below the average of 52 sectors. It can be concluded that the fisheries sector has not become a priority for Central Java, but the fisheries sector has the potential to continue to be developed. Therefore, the government needs to pay more attention to the fisheries sector by establishing regional-owned enterprises, improving information technology, and creating programs that can increase exports from the fisheries sector.
